You can reorder effects simply by dragging and dropping them, and add or remove them with a couple of clicks.

A wide array of amp and effect modules is included, letting you shape your tone freely and intuitively. More than 250 inspiring signal-chain presets deliver a mix-ready guitar tone the moment you load them.

The SPI engine automatically selects the optimal string and fret position based on your performance, and you can also switch strings manually using key switches. The Fretboard Monitor shows the current fret position and playing technique in real time.

V-METAL 2 offers dynamic palm muting with multiple intensity levels, giving you expressive control and adding to the authenticity of your guitar sound.

The Pre Noise feature adds a variety of picking nuances to the beginning of each note, enhancing the realism and natural feel of the guitar sound.

V-METAL 2’s Real-Time Legato Slide uses actual legato samples to deliver the expressive nuance of a finger sliding along the string—something pitch-based emulation simply cannot replicate. Hammer-ons and pull-offs are also real recorded performances, not emulations. Real-time legato slide and hammer-on/pull-off articulations are available on every instrument except the FX instruments—chord instruments included.

V-METAL 2 includes an extensive collection of pre-recorded chord samples—double stops (2-string dyads), octaves, power chords, power 9ths, sus4 chords and more—giving you instant access to authentic guitar voicings. Few other guitar libraries, if any, offer such a comprehensive range of real chord recordings.

In addition to the large set of real chord samples, V-METAL 2 offers an even wider range of chord types and voicings through emulated chords. Our proprietary recording and scripting techniques make these emulated chords virtually indistinguishable from the sampled ones.

The User Chord Editor lets you create custom chord shapes with full control over every string. You can define exactly how each string behaves: whether it sustains or is muted, whether it produces picking noise, whether it always plays open regardless of the fret position, whether it is included in the strum, and more.

Beyond the User Chord Editor, you can also customize how each string responds when it is triggered by the Strum Keys or the Normal Key.

Each string has a dedicated Arpeggio Key. When you select a chord instrument, the notes of that chord are automatically assigned to the corresponding Arpeggio Keys, so you can play arpeggios intuitively.
 
Note that this is not a traditional arpeggiator: it lets you play the individual notes (strings) of a chord yourself, one at a time.

SPI’s Auto Stroke Detection analyzes the current beat position and automatically chooses the appropriate stroke direction—down or up. Several detection modes are available, and you can always take manual control.

Double-tracking is a widely used guitar recording technique that creates a rich, wide stereo image and adds thickness to the sound. With V-METAL 2 SPI, you can achieve this simply by loading the Double Track multi. The two channels never play the same sample at the same time, which keeps the result natural and spacious.

You can instantly select any instrument or articulation using the Instrument Select Key Switches, and every articulation can be freely assigned to any key, so you can build your own key switch map.
These switches also feature chord recognition: you can call up a chord instrument not only by pressing its assigned key, but simply by playing the notes of that chord within the key switch range.
In other words, there is no need to memorize specific key switches—just hold the chord in the designated range and you are ready to play.

V-METAL 2 reproduces the rake technique, where the pick brushes across several muted strings just before it hits the target note—adding grit and expressive nuance to lead phrases.

“Cricket” is a guitar technique often used by metal and rock guitarists during solos. When you strike the whammy bar, the tremolo unit vibrates rapidly, producing a distinctive chirping sound reminiscent of a cricket.

On a real guitar, feedback occurs when a heavily distorted tone is played close to the amplifier. V-METAL 2 reproduces this faithfully and lets you adjust both the pitch and the fade time.

The guitar is tuned to Drop C, one of the most popular tunings among metal and rock guitarists. V-METAL 2 covers the lower register—from low C to low D♯—making it at home in modern metal, death metal, nu metal, metalcore, rock, pop and more. The tuning can also be lowered by up to four semitones, down to low G♯, for even deeper and heavier tones.

Every sample was recorded as a direct (DI) signal straight from the guitar, with no amp or effects in the signal path. That means you can shape your tone to match any musical style—using the built-in amp simulators, or your favorite third-party amp plug-ins.
